In lieu of New Year's resolutions, I have measurable goals based on a theme word - a great idea from Amanda, a fellow South Floridian.
My word is outside.
I live in such a beautiful place so need to get outside and enjoy it. Granted, we go boating and kayaking on most weekends, but I can be a shut-in on some weekday stretches. During the day, I'm stuck in a 10' x 10' room. Before and after the work day, I get caught up in my indoor hobbies: cooking, watching movies, working out at the gym, reading, playing on social media.
It's so fun to play outside!
Here' s one of my favorite photos from Christmas Day 2012.
I've come up with five quantifiable S.M.A.R.T. goals using the outside theme:
1. Get outside at least 15 minutes a day (preferably exercise and ideally 30+ minutes).
2. Grill at least one night a week.
3. Go see at least one new outdoor place in the Keys every month.
4. Make a concerted effort to get out of the office more during the day.
5. Share with you here about what I've accomplished, at least once a month.
One year from now, I'll be fitter, have had lots more fresh air, healthier grilled food, more rewarding work days, and will get to know the Florida Keys better.
What can you do to get outside more in 2013?

What a great word and goal (and SMART translation of it) and you DO live in a beautiful place! I didn't know I had a word until I started writing a post about not having a word which led me to..... DIRECTION. My post here: http://biggreenpen.com/2012/12/30/2013-getting-out-of-the-box/
ReplyDeleteI'm not a New Years resolution person! I just set goals, so this year one of my goals is to improve my placing in the two figure competitions this year. I always want to train harder than I trained the day before & enjoy my amazing life! I could go on & on but the bottom line is a health happy 2013!
